Take Me Back Tuesday & Flashback Friday

November 1979
My 6th Birthday

If you know me, then you know I am not a cake, icing or ice cream fan. There is one cake I do love, though. My mom would make it every year for me. It's called the Ruby Slipper and it is soooo yummy!! My mom has since given me the bundt pan (I bought her a new one). I miss my mommy making me my special birthday cake.

The Ruby Slipper Cake Recipe
1pkg (2-layer size) yellow cake mix or pudding included cake mix
1c (1/2 pt) sour cream
1/4c water
2 eggs
1pkg (3oz) Jello Raspberry Flavor

Combine cake mix, sour cream, water and eggs in a large bowl.
Blend, then beat at medium speed 2min until creamy.
Spoon 1/3 of batter into a well greased and floured 10in bundt pan.
Sprinkle with 1/2 of the gelatin
Repeat layers.
Spread the remaining batter over the gelatin to cover.

Bake 350degrees for 45 min, until cake springs back when lightly pressed.

Cool in pan for 5min, remove from pan and cool on rack.

Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.

Enjoy!

Not Me Monday - wk19

I certainly would never buy 8 costumes at Target for 90% off. Mmmm...nope. I did not get $250 worth of things for $25!!

I would never go to my friend's house to take photos of her son in a real pumpkin. Who does those things?

By this time he pushed out the eyes and was putting them in the pumpkin.

I would never put my daughter in the pumpkin either. Never!

Sunday Citar

"Once in a young lifetime one should be allowed to have as much sweetness as one can possibly want and hold." ~Judith Olney

It rained most of Halloween day. Right before we went out trick or treating it stopped raining and a rainbow appeared in the sky.

Lily was a pink poodle and Ian was a black and white dog.

My friend's children were dorothy, the scarecrow, the tin man and the cowardly lion.

It was very cold and windy that night.

We are having much different weather today. It is going to be a beautiful 64 degrees today.

Aloha Friday #3

It is Aloha Friday! In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that people take it easy and look forward to the weekend.

This week's question is:

When do you start Christmas Shopping? Do you exchange with lots of people?

I start Christmas shopping the day after Christmas. I go to Target when it opens and grab as many stocking stuffers for my kids as I can. My husband & I no longer exchange presents. The last time we did was Ian's first Christmas. We buy for the kids and for my nieces and nephews. I make ornaments for everyone else. I usually package them in a pretty tin or box I bought the year before. My husband & I go shopping for the kids around my birthday every year. We went shopping on Wednesday and we are now done with the kid's presents. I just need to make ornaments.

Wordless Wednesday-Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to me!

Yesterday I was busy making lots of things. I made the cupcake birthday candle holder above along with a couple custom orders. For one custom order a customer asked me to create a willow tree and carve initials in the base of the tree.
After I took this photo the sky got dark and it started to rain. It was way to dark for picture taking. Maybe later today.

My husband took today off and we are going Christmas shopping for the kids. We are dropping Lily off at my in-laws house first. Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!!

Take Me Back Tuesday & Flashback Friday

Halloween 2005

I worked with this guy...
and every year he throws a Halloween Party.

These pictures are from the second year I went. My husband opted out of going this year and stayed home with our son. I went with my friend and my brother in law. My brother in law wore my husband's costume from the previous year. My mother made both my costume and the one my brother in law is wearing. She ROCKS! (BTW...she had made my son a knight costume to match ours, too.)

Oh yeah, see the boxes in the 2nd photo? We moved into the house we are living in now the day after this party.

I ♥ Faces - Week 43

This week’s theme is: "Balloons"

I have to laugh at this photo. The kids got balloons on Halloween from Michaels. Lily was upset her balloon had shrunk. She decided she should try and re-blow it up! I love how she closed her eyes and blew as hard as she could...there is a knot already in the balloon. LOL.

Check out more photos at i ♥ faces.

Not Me Monday - wk18

I certainly would never go to Target yesterday before it opens and wait in line to get great deals on Halloween items. Nope! I then did not go to another Target after that to scope out their deals. I would never go back to Target later in the day to pick up another piece to the 'collection' I bought earlier in the day. Who would go to Target 3x's in one day? BTW...got some great stocking stuffers!!

I would never stand in line at Old Navy on Friday hoping to get a $2.00 costume. Most people were there to get the 50% off their order using their cc. I do not have an Old Navy card, but my friend does. She would never pay for my stuff using her card...my 2 shirts (long sleeve Halloween for my son) and 1 costume (there were only 2 left...my friend got the other). My total did not come to $4.40!!! I would never do the happy dance!

On Saturday I would never drag my family (everyone was crabby BTW) over to Macy's to get the free $10GC they were giving out to the 1st 100 customers. Yeah, no one was there!! We walked over to their home store after getting our GC in the main store (they have a separate location in our mall) and they gave us 2 more. I ended up buying 4 ornaments for $4.00 and still have 2 GC to use.

I definitely do not like a bargin...NOPE!
